Default Monterey Historics 2015 - Personal Recommendations

Dear Rennlisters:

As a local to the area, here are recommendations for interesting events during the upcoming 2015 Monterey Historics
that are often overlooked by popular internet guides like this one:

http://www.seemonterey.com/events/sporting/concours/

***************
Tuesday August 11th & Wednesday August 12th

Automobilia Monterey

http://www.automobiliamonterey.com/g...formation.html

************************************************************************ **************************************************
Wednesday August 12th

http://www.carmelmissionclassic.org/index.html

************************************************************************ ************************************************************************ ****
These events below are listed in the guide...but some have changed venues for this year & I wanted you all to be aware of that.
So caveat lector!

Friday August 14th

http://www.werksreunion.com

Porsche's 'Werks Reunion' is at Rancho Cañada for the second year!

Address: 4860 Carmel Valley Rd, Carmel, CA 93923

*************

Friday, August 14th

http://www.legendsoftheautobahn.org/#r0

Audi, BMW & Mercedes 'Legends of the Autobahn' is now at The Nicklaus Club (Pasadera) / Spectator entrance via Boundary Road:

************************************************************************ ************************************************************************ **********************************************

Please note that 'Concorso Italiano' has been moved to Saturday August 15th (instead of Friday) at a new location - Black Horse Golf Course!

Saturday August 15th

http://concorso.com

Concorso Italiano has moved from the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch on Rt. 68 back to Black Horse Golf Course in what was formerly known as Ft. Ord:

************************************************************************ ***************************************************************

http://www.mazdaraceway.com/rolex-mo...sports-reunion

Reunion Schedule (Aug 13th - 16th)
http://www.mazdaraceway.com/sites/ma...le_6.23.15.pdf

Pre-Reunion Schedule (Aug 7th - 10th)
http://www.mazdaraceway.com/sites/ma...le_2.20.15.pdf

Remember to buy your ticket for Laguna Seca's 'Motorsports Reunion' Historic Races prior to getting to the track to save money.
My recommendation is the authorized agents at the Shell Gasoline Station next to Home Depot on Canyon del Rey Blvd & US 1!

************************************************************************ **************************************************************
Saturday Evening August 15th

Finally, the traditional 'Carrera Panamericana' Saturday reunion dinner:

This is where friends of the original 'Carrera Panamericana' & the modern 'La Carrera Panamericana' meet during the August Historics!

This dinner was formerly held at 'Baja Cantina' and has now been moved to Pat Phinny's other restaurant - 'Turn 12' -
located at the 400 Tyler Street in Monterey!

For more information, please contact Bill Hemmer at:

See you all soon in our Carmel area!

Eduardo

See everyone at the Werks Reunion!

Thanks for the encyclopedia of knowledge Eduardo! Based on my experience last year, make sure to visit the Porsche showroom set up adjacent to The Quail right next door to the Werks Reunion. Even if you don't have tickets to The Quail the car watching there on Friday is unbeatable (anybody who is somebody is at The Quail on Friday).

We are entered in the Pre-Reunion and the Reunion. Stop by to say hello, it would be fun to meet some Rennlisters in person.

Quite the tattered 917....looks like the Camaro driver is wearing one of the early Bell "Collarbone breaker" helmets!

Default Ticket Prices...from Free to the Super Expensive!

Free events for Spectators:
Carmel Concours on the Avenue - Tuesday
Carmel Lunch Stop on the Avenue for Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Rally - Thursday
Werks Reunion - Friday
Legends of Autobahn - Friday

Reasonably Priced Events:
Automobilia - Tuesday & Wednesday. $15 at door.
Carmel Mission Classic - Wednesday. $35 in advance/$45 at door.
Includes wine tasting! Reasonably price food sold at event.
Turn 12 Panamericana Reunion Dinner - Saturday evening. $50 in advance,
Laguna Seca. Saturday. $80 in advance or at Shell Station / $100 at gate.
Concorso Italiano - Saturday - $160. Doesn't include any food or drink.
Barnyard Ferrari Gathering - $37 in advance /$45 at gate.

Not-So-Reasonably Priced Events:
Concours d'Elegance - Sunday - $300 in advance/$350 at gate.
Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival - Wednesday night - $350 in advance. Includes food & drinks!
The Quail - Friday - The week's most exclusive event. Sold out. Approx. $600@.

Auctions:
I find the RM Auction now to be unreasonably priced for spectators.
Mecum was free last year. Rick Cole was a nice event years ago.
Russo-Steele is very informal.
Gooding & Co auction and Bonhams are, in my opinion, the best!

So no shorts and flip flops at the Quail. On a serious note that's not a black tie affair, is it?

I don't believe there is an 'official' dress code for the The Quail Porsche Zentrum party, but you'll find most guests dressed in 'elegant casual'.
Many will be wearing jackets. Almost no one will be wearing shorts.
So caveat lector.

***********************************************************

'The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering' earlier in the day will also be 'casually elegant', but with a sportier accent since it's a daytime affair.
Here you will see shorts - but very nice tailored ones!

Thanks for the heads up Eduardo. Will you be there by chance?

I assumed a sport coat......(inside joke for those of us that attended the experience center dinner). Here in Truckee casually elegant means something quite different!
