Default Need help with "over maximum fill" warning.

I was driving my 2015 GT3 yesterday when a warning signal on the display read "oil below minimum level" please fill immediately." I pulled over and put in 3/4 quart of the mobile one in. Then the signal said "over maximum oil level take to garage if driving permitted." So I dropped off my car at shoreline motoring and asked them to drain some oil while they changed my tires. They emptied out 3/4 quarters and it still reads "over maximum...." They ask me if I wanted to drain more, I said "No" and scheduled a service appointment at my local porsche dealership monday. Has this happen to anybody yet and is this dangerous to drive to the dealer? Thanks for any help!

Had a 2010 GT3 that I could not get a reading on oil level. Only had the car less than a month with
about 500 miles. Called Porsche since I bought out of state and closest dealer was miles away.
They told me don't drive it we will pick it up. They did and fixed problem. Not suppose to deliver
it back but sevice manager went to bat for me and got the car delivered back at no cost to me. I guess they want to make sure nothing really expensive happens under warranty that is covered. Hope that helps. Call Porsche.

If they drained it, turn off car, open the oil filler cap, close, and restart car. Let it warm and test it again.

It's very sensitive. If the min oil warning is on, 1/4 of a quart.

What?

3/4 quart of oil?

Holy cow, I'm surprise your car wasn't burping excess oil.

If the light is just yellow, don't worry about it. Our oil sensors are very very sensitive. Try resetting the oil gauge, by opening your trunk lid (yes, trunk, not frunk), and letting your car idle with the engine running for about a minute or two. Then see what happens.

I had the same light come on. Took it to the dealer center and they drained it. The oil level was reduced down where the two top segments were empty (triangle and box). Drove it 3-4 days. Light came back on again. I am just driving it now. A bit annoying that the light comes on every time I start the car. Will try the trunk maneuver.

So has anyone asked this dumb question? Why did Porsche get rid of the dip stick?

Default Drive it

Same thing happened, added 1/4, then overfill message. Took it to dealer. They told me to unscrew the oil cap, screw it back on and then go for a 1 hour spirited drive. Took care of the light.

Back when the 997 debuted, one of the claims was weight. With the dry sump, I guess you'd need the dip stick in the oil reservoir? That's pretty deep in the engine compartment...

Each bar on the indicator that the oil level is low is only 200ml of oil. So, if it's two bars below the top, add 400ml of oil at the most.
It' in the manual. . .

Happened to me... My dealer told me to add just 1-200ml of oil only. Not too much and drive around at least 10km and see what happens. I also opened the trunk and oil cap.

You can get oil out of the filler. Here's a link to one way of doing it:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...xcess-oil.html

I purchased a kit with a pump and tube from Blackstone Labs which will fill one of their oil sample bottles.

Also, I thought Porsche revamped the amount that each bar represents. They put a sticker in my engine bay that shows min-to-max is only 500ml.

That's right....

According to the manual "C" below is the "recommended oil level for optimum engine operation". So there are technically 2 bars "empty" on the indicator but the optimum level is only one empty bar below max.
