Default Cleaning Red Seatbelts

What do you guys recommend to clean the seatbelts? They were far from clean when I bought the car (used) and I would like to get them and the door pulls back to new without buying new.

Thanks.........Craig

I don't think that you will satisfied with "cleaning".
There are red belts for sale on ebay or this forum regularly for a few hundred bucks. Maybe you could just swap the old ones for new ones, try to clean the new ones when off the car and sell those? You'd get new belts at a discount...

I would try using diluted woolite and a microfiber towel. You'll need to gently rub them to get the embedded dirt out.

Once clean I would use another microfiber that is wet ( not dripping) to "rinse" the soap off of the surface. This will prevent dirt from sticking to the soap in the future.

I wouldn't use simple green, it's caustic and may cause damage to the seat belt fibers over the long term.

Woolite is safe and with some elbow great it works.

You might also consider using a soft bristle brush dipped in the woolite for heavier dirt.

This is just an idea, and I don't know without reading the label, but what about Murphy's Oil Soap? I have used it in the past on many things, but not seat belts.
