Brake Upgrade for 2011 Boxster Spyder?
Hi Guys!
New to posting but did purchase a 2011 Boxster Spyder from a fellow Rennlister in 2015. I've done the following upgrades already to the car:
IPD competition plenum
GT3 Throttle body upgrade
fabspeed traktech exhaust
fabspeed race header
gt3 brake master cylinder
agency power SS brake lines
cobb access port + Pro tune
Intake
michelin pilot sport cup 2.
The one thing that bugs me is is the brakes look so small under the 19" wheels. I was thinking about either trying to find a PCCB caliper set or some aftermarket brembos. Does anyone have any experience with BBKs for the spyder? Couple of questions that I have are:
1) Are the PCCB calipers direct bolt on or will spacers be needed? are their different fittings for say 987s and 997s etc?
2) Does anyone have any experience with the Brembo BBKs? Would i be able to fit the 380mm GT-R caliper / rotors into the stock 19 inch wheels?
3) Any other recommendations or feedback?

I also had brake considerations a while back to upgrade on my 987 Spyder. As for OP question 1), I went with an upgrade from standard Red to PCCB. I learned that front PCCB calipers don't bolt directly to existing mounting points on the front spindles - I changed the spindles as well...maybe this could have been don't using custom brackets, however, I prefer to keep it OEM.

You might contact Vision Motorsports. They have a kit with 350mm AP rotors, '04 GT3 six pot calipers and custom spacers&bolts. You don't have to change spindles with this kit.

I have a StopTech two piece rotor BBK on my 09 CS. Easy to install and great on the track. They provided the brake systems for the old Cayman interseries spec race cars so they know 987's pretty thoroughly. Give them a call directly for advice.

While id like to go with Vision Motorsports kit, our rules in here prohibit adaptors etc... So I'm going to replace the carriers to bolt them straight up, as oem.
I understand that the 987 PCCB carriers will allow the 996/7 GT3 callipers to bolt right on, however you need to use the rotors from a 997 Turbo, not GT3 as they have a 2mm height difference, can anyone confirm this?
Others say go GT3 carriers Which is it?!
This is by build list with part numbers to fit 997.1 GT3 brakes to the front of my cayman, but its not proven yet:

Ok, if you go PCCB you will need about 14k if you find a good used set from LA Dismantler etc. new, 20k. So 1/3rd the price of your car probably.
Have no idea on the Brembo's but a front and rear set will probably be 6-8k for 6 pot system.
The system on our cars is awesome but totally get your problem. I took my PCCB's off for a future project that should have been long done until I bought my current Porsche project which is taking all of my time.
So I went down the Giro Disc path, they are bigger, two piece and look better and lighter. Get the GT3 MBC and steel lines and you're done and save a LOT of money. The Titanium lug nuts save 2 ounces! LOL
Have no idea on the Brembo's but a front and rear set will probably be 6-8k for 6 pot system.

So I took the measuring tools provided by Brembo and confirmed that the 380mm/345mm big brake kit will fit and clear the 987.2 Boxster Spyder with the factory 19in wheels. This would be the same confirmation for the Cayman R...which has got me thinking now too haha
