2014 Porsche Cayman Thread - 991 Conversion
Ladies and Gents,
Minus some rocker vinyl and some lowering springs that we decided to add a few hours ago, the car is now 97% finished but photos are long overdue.
2014 Porsche Cayman "Daytona Special" - Affectionately known as "Black Betty," this 2014 Porsche Cayman was created as a commemorative car for Porsche Cayman racing fans in North America and is based on the Porsche Caymans equipped with 911 Direct Fuel Injection Power that finished 1-2-3 at the 2013 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. Unlike that Cayman however, this car is based on Porsche's lastest and greatest 981 Boxster/Cayman chassis and comes moderately equipped with the following options from Porsche Cars North America:
- Black Partial Leather Seats
- Sirius XM# Satellite Radio
- Bose Surround System
- Bi-Xenon Headlights with PDLS
- Premium Package
- Power Sports Seats (14-way)
The following OE Porsche parts have also been installed, but were executed by BGB Motorsports, for this engine & chassis were never destined to be sold together:
- 2014 3.8L 991 Carrera S Engine (400hp / 325 lb/ft)
- 2014 991 Carrera S 6-Piston Front Brake Calipers (PCNA Green Caliper Paint FR&R)
- 2014 991 Carrera S 340mm Front Brake Discs & Brake Pads
The following aftermarket parts have also been installed for weight savings and handling:
- H&R Lowering Springs
- Forgeline 20" GA1R Fully Forged 1-Piece Monoblock Wheels
- Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires (245/30/20FR & 295/30/20R)
The car can be seen or test driven at Suncoast Porsche in Sarasota, Florida starting July 1st, 2013.

Oh my. That's how it should come from the factory, but then Porsche would never sell another 911 (ca$h cow). GLWS.

Awesome! Now if they just added coil overs, a half cage, seats etc, gt2 buckets, some alcantara, and aero, for 100k it would be a street/track beast. Sign me up for that one.

I agree, a sweet deal. It wouldn't be hard to option a standard car to that price with useless "frills". I'd rather have the motor and brakes etc than butt massaging seats etc. this is a Porsche after all, not a Lexus or MB. PS: warrantee what?

Very nice John! I love your choice of wheels. Were you able to use the 3.4 as a core for the 3.8? If the stated price is accurate I'm sure you will sell it quickly, that's a very good price on a sorted car.

Is this conversion based off of a standard cayman, and not an S? Am I correct that it would make no difference in this instance, other than starting cost?
