Gundo Hack Possible for 987?
#2
Not from what I understand. Totally different exhaust on the 987. In fact, I just swapped my stock exhaust on my 05 Boxster S with Fabspeed's Maxflow exhaust. Love it.

I saw that hack job a few months ago and there wasn't any way I was going to do that to my car. Might as well drill some extra holes in the muffler so it will "make more noise". I bought the fabspeed maxflow because it looks stock, sounds good, and is easily reversible should I decide to put it back to stock and sell the car in the future.

about being reversible, 987 stock mufflers are easily/cheaply available on ebay to lay hands on one in case you mess up with gundo or this hack . so not too bad an option, if not big on the budget at the moment.

I've just done a Carnewal equivalent locally as well as a gundo hack with a 2 inch pipe on my 2010 Cayman S. Definitely more sound and I think there is now a bit of drone at the low 2000 range. I'm also thinking that I've lost a bit of low end torque. It's not been more than 200 km since the mod and I'm not wot most of the time so maybe the ecu has yet to relearn?
I know of someone who has done this on his boxster as well and he loves it.

That's been my experience and also the opinion of everyone who's commented on it.

How does one do a "gundo hack" on a mid-engine exhaust system? The routing of the exhaust pipes into and out of the mufflers is completely different than the routing for rear-engine cars where the Gundo bypass originated. In other words, which exhaust pipes did you bridge or bypass?
