OEM Rotors or aftermarket?
Steering wheel shake beginning to set in on my '94 C4 widebody during braking. Street use only. Daily Driver.
I'm replacing all rotors and pads, etc. Everything. (want it done right and like new).
Mechanic says after market rotors are the same as OEM. Just payin' for the name with OEM's. True or false?
I want it right. But if it's the same stuff....why pay more?
thanks
60k miles. He's not making money off the parts either way.

What your mechanic says is true in my experience. Swapped a lot of pads and rotors on multiple cars over the years. Never had a bad experience with aftermarket or OEM parts. Just as a matter of clarification, there is aftermarket, OEM, and genuine Porsche parts in that ascending order of price with genuine Porsche usually significantly higher in cost.

Let's remember that Porsche did not actually manufacture rotors and OEM or "genuine" is fluid. Not to get into automotive supply chain details but OEM can be original Porsche.

Zimmerman rotors are good. Especially for street use.

My understanding is that Zimmerman and Sebro (and likley others) are all as Porsche's OEM suppliers. Think to start with Sebro were the first and only Porsche 964 (coated) rotors then they started using Zimmerman (Boxter use initially I belive).
With more than one rotor supplier it's highly likely that the same 911 variant left the factory during its' production run with more than one brand as standard.
I've stuck with Sebro's but also know that Zimmerman are very popular too.

Sebro or ATE are currently the least expensive but quite frankly any of the choices would work great.
