Default How do you install an H&R front swaybar?

I have been fighting all night trying to install a new H&R sway bar into the front of my C2. Is it possible without removing the front suspension? Getting the stock bar out was bad enough, but there seems to be no way to get this larger one in?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I did mine last year, and you are right, it's a battle, but it WILL get in there. I started from the driver (left) side, and just kept manipulate it until it finally got in there. I can not give you step by step instructions, as I can't remember how it all went down, but I do remember having the end turned all the way up at one point. Just keep at it, and best of luck, it will fit in there.

Removing the control arm ball joint from upright will make things easy. That won't affect alignment.

It's all about finding the right angle. Take your time, have a beer at the side, and just try and try again. Suddenly it will slide in place.

It's been awhile since I installed it, but IIRC I dropped the crossmember a bit in order to create more room to manoeuvre the bar into place.

Thanks for the tips! I spent three beers last night trying every possible position & angle. Wheels turned both ways, control arms jacked up, etc. I think I'll try pulling a ball joint next.

"I spent the beers" LOL!

Sometimes it takes six, but then after that things get fuzzy hahaha!

I'm adding these fancy sway bars to my list of to dos!

I usually stubbornly resist taking things apart, when I'm trying to put things together. However, I eventually relented and unbolted the side member logintudinals to give me more room until the bar was in position. My only regret was that I didn't admit defeat sooner, as it didn't take long disassemble and re-assemble. There isn't much room; the sway bar is long; and it's surprisingly heavy after a while!

Good luck!

Okay, I got the front bar in last night. Removing one ball joint was a great idea, and that enabled me to rotate one of the struts completely out of the way. I would not recommend attempting to install the front bar without doing at least that. I wasted hours trying to maneuver it in before pulling apart the front end.

Glad you succeeded.

I had a feeling that this would be an infuriating DIY, especially without a lift...hence why I took the easy way out and let my shop do it for me.

Glad to hear you got it done. Are you installing a rear H&R bar as well???? If so, I have a spare set of Tarrett drop links if you are interested.
