Default GT3 exhaust install

Been asked to post this as a separate thread to my car project so here it is, since I bought my car I've wanted to install a GT3 muffler but since then a bunch of people have already done it but no one I've seen has both chambers working as they would on the GT3 which is what I intend to do.
I took a punt and bought OBX headers and before the haters start hating I don't care what peoples opinions on OBX is, Ive used plenty of their stuff and its been great so I decided to use their parts again on this car.

I still need a couple of minor components and a couple of clear days in the coming weeks to fabricate the other pieces, on the lower chamber I'm installing a couple of vacuum operated valves which will be supplied with vacuum from a vacuum reservoir which is operated via a solenoid switched by a micro switch on the throttle body.
That will take a bit of guesswork as to what rpm they open but will probably add a manual over ride button as well.
Below pictures of the components.

Will be interesting to see the result.....a few other's have done the 'y' pipe with the valves on the lower straight thru section. I think that their results were mixed since without the primary mufflers the valve was only making the sound go from 'super loud' to 'excessively super loud'....that's what I understood at least.

The other alternative would be to have a primary muffler set up...you can pick up 996 and 997 mufflers on the cheap or maybe there is a better aftermarket alternative.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Very excited to see this come together. I've been eyeing these OBX headers for a long time, and I know a couple others have, as well. I've been hesitant because of the oil line that I'm afraid will foul with the headers, but hopefully you find an easy and sound solution to something that may or may not be an issue.

Thanks again for making this thread :beers:

I'm actually thinking about turning the headers around and facing them forward so that primary mufflers can be added but I won't really know till I get the old system off.

Ok, this is about as technical as I can get...but if there is room maybe something like this would work:

And the Valve section would go to the straight through section and the muffler to the quieter section.

i'd skip the flaps and see how how you like it without.

maybe i'm wrong here but i would expect the volume to be similar to a car with cat delete and a secondary bypass (albeit a different tone).

if you feel its too loud then add them. just a suggestion....good luck.

I bought the QSC headers and piped them to my GT3 muffler with a y-pipe going to the top and bottom. Its really loud but I get a lot of compliments on it. I was thinking of doing the valve switch or adding small 100 cell cats somewhere. Not sure yet, leaving it alone until I get around to the engine modding. I've always been wanting to replace the engine firewall padding and the rear speaker shelf padding.

Everyone's idea of loud will be different and depends how deaf one is but I'm not a fan of deafeningly loud exhausts and looking at the GT3 muffler it doesn't look like it has much in the way of noise dampening.
I'd say i'll be looking to incorporate some sort of muffler to quieten things down on part throttle / cruise, will be a very interesting experiment.
The only good thing is that with a 911 all the noise is behind you.

My current exhaust is very loud outside the car, I call it obnoxious actually bit in the car it's not bad at all and quite like it......certainly makes people look at what's coming

Heres an update of mine after adding the GT3 metal clamps and some exhaust wrap to cover the unpleasant welds of the y-pipe. Car is bumperless as it goes through a wide body conversion.
