Great work John. Look forward to seeing the results after optimisation. Try to ride shotgun with the mapper and see if he can give you a running commentary of the process he follows.

Well done! Just a comment about the pic of your old injector. It was really dirty! I removed my injectors 2-3 years ago to have them sent away for a cleaning and testing. But the outside was more or less clean when I removed them. Did all your injectors look like the one in the pic?

The engine was fully rebuilt 18 months ago. They were all the same. I have no idea why they were so dirty. The engine does leak oil but not there.

Just been for my first drive at speed.

OMG. OMG. OMG

The torque curve feels so fat. The idle coming to a rest is rock solid. No hiccups on idle or throttle transition.

It seems to be running rich, based on the black exhaust pipe, so I need to get it to the dyno ASAP.

Amazing to think this is the base result and there is more to come

I drove a Turbo 3.6 for 13 years (on its way to the UK right now) and went on the back roads in my Cayman R yesterday so I know what power is. This is well up there and so drivable.

Great write up. I can't believe the difference between the two injectors.
Hoping you find even more power once you get everything dialed-in!

I just stumbled across Johny Tippler's dyno run after installing this kit.

The Peppermint Pig on Facebook
On the rolling road, having new ECU and injectors fitted by Specialist Components. I now deliver 280bhp.

Here's a link to the kit to save others from googling: http://www.twinkam.co.uk/shop/articl...aid%3DSC300%26

Sorry if there are any sponsors who sell the kit...

Looks like an amazing deal, especially considering it can be fully customized for later modifications/upgrades. One question though, you said you don't have an o2, do they have a kit that supports o2 sensors?

Yes it will support wideband O2. They sell them for £99+ I grabed one when I ordered my kit.
Take a look on the accessory pages.

Just to set expectations, I'm about to enter a heavy work travel period. I don't expect to be able to map the car on a dyno until late April.

That said I will have plenty of hotel down time to learn more about this topic so keep on posting questions. I think I will order a wideband o2 sensor as well as the AFR is a great unknown right now, plus making the car more efficient in closed loop is a worthwhile improvement.

Robt,

I've been reading up on engine management in my hotel room i.e. no access to the car or computer.

First question is whether the O2 sensor sold by Specialist Components is a direct fit into the car bung hole?

Second question is whether the ECU will read out the lamda or do I need to buy a wideband meter?

My car was built for Singapore and has no O2 sensor, but does have the bung hole. I hope that I can add O2 functionality for closed loop operation.

Third question is knock control. Do you know how that is integrated into the system? Do we still have knock control protection?
