Default Gonna pull the motor, what next?

Hey guys. The clutch on my dad's 964 C4 is going out with style so I see this as a chance to pull the motor and try to address the falling engine liner and oil leak. I realize that dropping this thing will lead to an endless "while your there" list of parts but I am resisting upgrading the engine outside of a possible port polish.
So I am seeking a general list of components to check.
As of now the: power steering pump was rebuilt/ belt replaced, spark plugs and wires changed, distributor caps and rotors replaced, and a valve adjustment done.
All by me and all very painfully done with the engine in the car.

I would replace the main seal, gaskets between the cam chain housing and the block, gaskets for the chain housing, oil bridge o rings, chain tensioner gaskets, temp sensor gasket and o ring, main crank seal, check/replace the large o rings on the intake manifold. I assume when you replaced the PS belt you replaced the o ring and gasket between the housing and the cam shaft.

Probably a good time to replace the slave cylinder (cheap) and associated hose too. I'd also inspect all the hoses esp. the 3 around the oil tank and replace if needed.

That's essentially a reseal - the parts aren't too expensive. Good luck.

With great interest I'm watching this. I'm starting to plan my engine drop.

What is mileage on car?

You can also service the distributor, pull the injectors and have them refurbished, powder coat the engine tin. There is also some good general servicing of ISV and sensors. Nothing new, just cleaning them. Cam chain housing seals and cam cover seals... Non of this is rebuilding your engine, or top end, just general maintenace and clean up. I did all this on my C2 and car is totally dry now and runs great.

Great additions Ricardo. I'd like to hear more about what's involved with pulling the injectors. Haven't done that, yet

Powder coating is a big one. And while you are there...I'd reinforce the engine carrier with a Rennline plate. Do it before powder coating the tins and then throw that in the batch.

Also check the motor mounts.

There are a few "while you are in there posts" that have a comprehensive list. Search is your friend. I think I merged a few prior to the work on my C2. I will see if I can dig that up.

It just hit 160k miles.
This looks like it will be more than just a clutch.
