Default Show me your stock calipers

I noticed my calipers from my 90 C4 have raised lettering in the front and a stencil on the rear with cast raised lines.

My question is for 1993 MY were the calipers the same castings? I am looking for pictures of original stock calipers for MY 1990 and 1993 to compare the two. I need front and rear pictures if you could help.

Thx

Thanks

So for 91 those are correct for the front and the single piston calipers for the rear. I need to see the C4 dual pistons if anyone has a picture and any 1993 MY calipers would be helpful.

On my 94, front and rear are the same, the only difference is piston diameter. Both are stencil, not raised.

The early cars had single piston rears like the ones pictured above. Sounds like someone upgraded your rears to two piston and didn't used the raised letter calipers.

Actually only the 90 and 91 C2's had single piston rears. They switched to double rear pistons in 92. So no raised lettering on your fronts as shown by Tarta964.

Looks like I need to sell these fronts and buy correct look for my 93. Anyone selling proper 93 fronts?

89 - 91 = early cars I was referring to.

I'm rebuilding a set and will be selling the ones off my car but I'm still a month or so out before I swap them.

Only the early C2s had two piston rear calipers. The C4s always had four piston calipers.

There were a couple of different castings used, all the early front and rear ones used on 964/944/951/968/928 had the raised lines and raised flat for the script, 993 was smooth as were 964RS rears that I have seen, So it may have been the difference between the 28/30 and 30/34 rears, but then again the 965 rears also had the raised lines and flats and 30/34 pistons so maybe not.

Thanks Bill

If I read you correctly the ones i have with the raised letters up front should be correct to install on my 93 I am putting back to stock. Pistons sizes check out so I know I am good there.

We have before removed the factory letters which are in the mold and implemented the more modern day look with the stenciled form.

See the before and after photos.

I see, I currently have the oldest version. I am assuming my 93 came with the Raised lines and raised flats with stencil. Unfortunately there is not enough material to modify by grinding off the lettering to leave the flats.

I recall them having some lines when i switched over to 993 rears which were smooth.

looking to put the car back to period correct.

My '91 C2 fronts are raised lines and raised flat. Letters are painted. The rears were little 2-pistons, but I bought a set of '93-94 4-piston rear calipers and those are also raises line and raised flat.

It's quite possible that all the smooth ones are 993 that were used as part of a bb upgrade
