I'm keen to help Stuart .... Ps the beauty of the vph750 is that it cuts itself off when running low so u never have to jump start...
And last 5-8 yrs.

Simon, do the super b batteries require anything other than charging off the alternator?
From what I've read they need a special mains charger but didn't see anything that mentioned car charging.

Hi Stuart
Yes you do need a specific charger for the Lithium battery but the one I got was only £60 which is Super B also.
As previously mentioned once car is running amount of ancillaries is to a point irrelevant as alternator replaces what you take out. Key thing is stored charge for cold cranking on first start up, but I have a battery cut off for long non use periods!!

WOW... 3 lb battery for >$200! Can't wait to lose 30 pounds (and I don't care if it's in the nose)

Steve says, "Want to take a lightweight battery to the next level?

Four ultra powerful A123 Systems lithium packs, originally developed for the Chevy Volt, used in the Fisker Karmas.

Total weight including case: 6.5 lbs. Power equivalent of a 60 lb lead acid battery." ...
OK that's still a bit complicated...

Jack Olsen keeps tinkering with the idea, and found this $200

...Lithium Iron Phosphate battery from Battery Tender for under $200.

It weighs less than 3-1/2 pounds.

It's tiny. It looks like the Odyssey PC-680, but feels like they forgot to put any of the guts in it. Here it is in my smuggler's trunk.

wow - more info (and pictures) please ! Looks great, does it work as you expected? Kind of lost on a 'smugglers box' too (thought these were only on pre 89 911 ?)

My car is a '72. I did a longer writeup on the battery here.

No surprises so far. But I just got it this week.

Even the 2 lb battery works well in a Boxster!

yes perfect ,
nine is the same what is more important there is the CCA, its the power the bettery provide to start the car, the rest you only have to make sure everything is off when you crank the engine, so no dragging current to the battery
at 480 it is very good

Thanks for the update Kos - keeping an eye on that options but it takes a long time to work out if a battery lasts

I want one of these. Needs to be reliable... Maybe can use my heavy battery for winter time. That is a big weight saving.

I got one. I'm not sure I will use it though as you have to cut the Porsche wiring to make your own.
Not sure I like that

I read the article. He drilled thru some battery posts and secured them to the new battery.. Sounds like he used stock cables.
