FYI, I was able to source my missing engine hardware from my local dealership. A lot of the old part numbers have been replaced which made trying to track them down online difficult.

Hinton I like your project....I've been working on a similar 968 project for years now, but hoping to be on the road in the next couple. Anyway I'd like to check out your progress sometime. I'm Southwest of Dayton so I'm not far away....keep up the good work!

Anytime! 968's are gorgeous, can't wait to see the project.

FYI, there's a cruise in at Traci's in Loveland from 1-6 today, the wife and I are going to check it out.

Nice video, couple of comments:

Piston to wall clearance not 55 thousands but rather 5.5 thousands.

The reason for the extra clearance is do to a bit higher thermal expansion of the JE pistons

Haha, oops! Thanks for watching and for clarifying. It's weird shooting videos to put up for the world to see, I think I blacked out lol. Let me know if you'd like me to mention your site or anything else in future videos.

I'm interested in how much longevity you'll get with no bushings. I'm betting there will be premature wear. If there's not enough meat to add a bushing, DLC wrist pins may provide a much longer lasting solution.

Has anyone with significant time on their hybrid stroker engine had a look at the wrist pins and small end of the rod? I'm all ears on this.

Michael,

There are several builds done this way with no issues, my own 3.1L is 4 years old. I have about 12K miles and 8-10 track weekends. Sid did a rebuild of his 2.85L after pretty high abusive mileage due to a dropped valve seat and inspection showed no premature wear.

Still interested in first-hand detail. Have you inspected your pins/rod housings? Not challenging you, just interested/curious. Your wrist pins are floating, right?

I understand there are a number of engines running with this arrangement. My comment was with respect to durability.

I talked to Sid and he said he will post here some info. He disassembled his 2.85L after a valve seat dropped and inspected the pins. He can give further details. They are floating.
