I sustained this in '00 (hence the screename)
the 1st surgeon made a point of telling me he was delaying his vacation to perform
the substandard work seen above
7 months later, still non weight bearing, a board certified heavy hitter from University of Chicago
told me just how bad it was, misaligned by over an 1"
had to wait a full year for that to heal, then a total hip
after about a dozen dislocations, a trochanteric osteotomy (you DON'T want this)
15 years later it's fine, no pain but a bit of impingement, no impact sports, no running
interesting fact, it takes about 11-1200 lbs of pressure to break the human femur
I'm 6' 4" and about 240, he said mine was well into the 1400's
avoid anything that will trigger a dislocation, the scar tissue is as important as
the new joint

Ah, seriously, best of luck to you. I do agree with the butt first method of 928 entry. It must be good for the seats too as mine still look nearly new after 285 K miles.
Cheers,

I have left knee problems, and getting in and out butt first is an easy way. I'm down here in South Cary, pm me if you could use some help on the car, I'm sure we could get a work crew up there if you need any assistance
