Default Getting picky about mismatched window trim colors...

So, now that I've noticed this it's driving me very slightly crazy (crazier)
Are the "corners" and "connectors" for the window trim supposed to be a different color finish? Or, is t supposed to be all the darker shade (or all the lighter shade ?!?!)

Thanks.

Dan

Listening in on this... mine are not as mismatched as yours but they are faded and in need of new paint.

Mine are all black, but some of the black has flaked off, especially on those corner pieces. I can't imagine they were ever supposed to be different colors...

Al Black - SEM has a nice black trim paint that matches the original pretty close.

^^^^ yep ^^^^
That paint works great, I recently repainted my Windshield and Rear Window Wiper Arms on the 86.5, looks like new semi-gloss.

Forgive my increasingly apparent ignorance...

SEM?

Thanks

For a novice attempting this paint job, would you recommend a light sanding with (400?) followed by thorough cleaning/taping off?

I would never paint anything requiring a gun but I am good with a rattle can.

Currently doing all of mine since they are off the car. Using SEM 39143 Trim Paint. About as close with good quality paint that you will get to european black.

Chalkboss, remove as much of it as you can and use 400 grit, then clean will with acetone. Let it sit for at least a half hour to gas out and not cause issues with the paint. Use 3 to 4 light coats of the SEM Trim Paint in a rattle can.

400 paper or Scotchbrite (maroon 360 grit) pads will work. Wipe down with alcohol and spray away. T
