Size: 92.1 KBI was wondering if this 8 x 17 OEM rim would be worth repairing it / trying to make it look factory fresh ?
Three of the four are ok but 2 need minor refinishing. (Two 8 x 17 fronts & two 9.5 x 17 rears).
This one has the most rash or scrape marks on the front & a small amount of the metal shaved back on the inside.
The tires on the rim were good but old and had to be replaced no matter what but held air and the seal / bead was ok.

I like the rims and would restore & keep them if they would be worth throwing a few bucks at.

I'd say yes. My local wheel guy (AWRS) gets ~$150-$175 per wheel to straighten and refinish. if he can't do it on site, he sends them off at no add'l cost. There's an AWRS guy that serves your county. You can find him on their website.

I had a curbed, scrapped wheel, bad enough it could not be balanced; apparently the lip was not true, although I couldn't see that aspect, just the scratches that covered maybe 25% of the circumfrence. I went to Wheel Doctor and they straightened (and balanced) it for $125, then I had it polished for another $100. Looks better than the the other 3

A pro needs to look at yours.

pay careful attention to the inner hoops of these rims,
they have a habit of cracking radially through the bead seat area.
This can be welded by a wheel repair center.
NOTE when refinishing wheels its best to send the whole set or one side,
as the paint wont usually match,
and after you get back lets say the two fronts,
they will be a different color than the your rears

Seeing how it's a rare ET70, I'd make every effort to save it - assuming the wheel's structural integrity is not compromised and is safe to use afterwards.

Yes, those 8x17 ET 70s are keepers ... a good wheel repair place should make as good as new ... or if you want, I'll take them off your hands for $100 :-)

Thanks for the input......I'll put some effort into saving the rim & getting it restored.

Might as well get all four refinished at the same time so they match.

I was aware the width was more than stock but did not realize they were rare.

Definitely worth refinishing and as Mrmerlin said, get all four refinished. I'd also take them off your hands ... but for $200

I had a set of mine re-finished ... pics here ... https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...l#post11936366
