25 years old and it is real easy - 24 years old and you are talking $20k.
As already said 1992 does not work until 2017.
May be better to ship it to the UK and wait like I did with the SE.

Oh how I would love to take this car and drop in Joe's 7-liter engine, which is also for sale.

The overall car is in good condition, it's been run on very thin oil in a very hot country.
The owner just wants to get rid of it.
The car came to our local 928 specialist too late. She'll need a new engine.
Located in Dubai, will assist with exporting the car in a container if you'd like. Which will cost around $3-4K to the U.S.
I'll get some pictures!

What colour is this car as a matter of interest?
Porsche Middle East have been putting Mobil 1 0W40 in these & all their other cars for years. I refused this and run on 20W50 Shell Super Helix [allegedly good zinc content] Dino oil [or GTX if I can get it] now with a bottle of STP thrown in for good measure to help assure the zinc content- runs well and the cam bay was very clean internally when I last looked a couple of months ago.
I doubt the thin oil has anything to do with the TBF condition- all that can be said for a thrust bearing is that if such a bearing is overloaded the oil with the lowest film strength will fail first. Syn oils [with low viscosity] can and often do have higher film strengths than Dino oils with higher visocity, but then not all oils are the same and neither are all engines. Simple fact of the matter is that under normal circumstances the thrust bearing loading is minimal- once the flex plate collar slips it becomes a disc brake not designed for such loads- it overheats-the oil film brakes down, the white metal bearing fails & the rest is history. I have the evidence somewhere in my display cabinet.
It would be a nice thing if you can pair a needy new owner in the States and help out the poor SOB in Dubai who has suffered the loss-hopefully no one I know!
Presumably all this depends on the market value of such a failed example Stateside which in turn is probably dictated by what the likes of Mark A may be prepared to pay for such to stock his inventory/continue the line.
Interestingly, Porsche Middle East [maybe Oman specifically] now put Mobil 1 10w50 in the Cayenne Turbo but only [so they say] to reduce the oil consumption rate.

I got some more info from Terry.
The car initially had a Timing belt failure, not the thrust bearing my apologies.
They sent the car to a dodgy back street shop for repairs because no one else would work on it...
The mechanics said they found scoring on a couple of the cylinders and proceeded to hone all the cylinders, which we all know requires a special process, but they did not.
Reassembled the engine and tried running it, shortly thereafter it became useful as a boat anchor.
So in theory if you modify an S4 block, could you use all the parts from this engine to build a GTS motor?
Terry said he's going to take some pictures and find out more about the car, mileage, books, history etc So should have that for you guys pretty soon.
Bilal has called dibbs on this one FYI

Storage, well, I honestly have no idea, I've tried to find storage and it is expensive... I don't know anyone that could help either :/
