Other than dirty, and creative use of sealer, how do the hoses look under the intake?
Intake ports were soon plugged.

Hoses under the intake looked OK, but all will be replaced. Some oil/water and pcv hoses are new and will remain.

Nice progress Mark, you don't play around. Are you going to PC or paint the intake/cam covers? I still need to pull my intake for a refresh and interested which route you go.

Got back to it this week after the busy Monterey car week.

Dismantled the intake components over the last few days. Everything is very dirty and yucky!
all the seals on the valve covers were toast, very hard and brittle. Im sure they have never ever been off the car. The intake, caps, throttle body housing, water bridge and valve covers are headed off to my parts stripper/plater tomorrow. they will do the cleaning and paint prep for me.

on the bench for disassembly.

look at that inner seal. I whack with a cold chisel through the side hole got it out of there.

intake stripped of its parts.

Very dirty and oilly inside. and the coating coming off inside as well.

Valve covers were so nasty.

and so were the injectors. New ones are on the way.

nice work!! Great find. The 88 is a great year. Modern body style but with the tall transmission gearing still.

Wow, nice to read your detailed report on the resurection. Why do you replace the injectors with new ones instead of having them cleaned/tested?

I am going to quit my day job and go work at the steam cleaners. That would be a very satisfying gig for an OCD'er.

Any 'after' pics of the underside?
