So, let me see if I understand, you are going to ignore Greg's advice and just drive it hoping for a different outcome?

No I am agreeing that that might be the solution. But in the time until I have the place and the time to remove the valve body I am going to see if the trans x can dissolve what is clogged. When I bought the car it had vanish from sitting . It shifted early and drive slow. I put Trans x in and it over time drive correctly. And the. The radiator Trans cooler blew. So I've changed the fluid 3 times and flushed as much if the stuff as I can. I wAs warned that the coolant even though it was only in the transmission a short time could have done a lot of damage already. It's 105-110 here right now so I can't drive a car that over revs for long I don't want to kill this thing. So while I wait for my moment to repair it I will do all I can.... Take short drives to see if I can unstick the throttle valve. It did it before.

My fear is that the coolant damaged the clutches and the car is driving this way because Both clutches are engaged at the same time when the unit gets hot.
.

You do this stuff long enough, and you find out that virtually anything you can imagine will happen.

Your method certainly requires less work than mine.

I wish you good luck!

I took a short ride tonight. It shifts from second to third but at the point it should go into forth it false neutrals. When I slow down it picks up third gear again. Hmmm

I took the valve body out of the car this afternoon. I split the body and bagged all the parts so they go back together correctly. Found that using a straw you can suck the ***** out real easy. The valves in the top of the body were a bit sticky. Lucky no fiber materials were found. Tommorow I'm going to do the sensor block and upgrade the springs with the spring kit I bought. My wife helped me by tagging each bag to our instruction diagram. More tommorow!

So it's all together and back on the car. It is still holding gears a bit later but is shifting firm. I'm going to plan on removing the centrifugal valve next. But that's for another weekend. I found a broken spring in the b1 accumulator and the spring train of the k2 accumulator was apart and jambed. Lots of old build up. It's clean now! Thanks for the suggestion Greg! The gears still hold higher than seems normal. According to the workshop manual the steps to check this are

1. Adjust Trans cable
2. Check kick down solenoid
3. Clean valve body
4 check centrifugal valve
5 drink a case of beer
6. Rip out hair

Went to put a few miles on it and as in drive out of drive no drive or reverse. I'll have to jack it up to seei if the selector cable ball slipped off the arm. If not she needs a rebuild.

It's rebuild time! I am selling off some unneeded stuff to get money for the rebuild. Gonna pull the transmission myself

Trans issue was a burned up K1 clutch that was seized. And a k2 that had a leaky outer seal.
