Finally the car is back on the road!
It all started with a fluid leak in the torque converter housing and a car that would no longer reverse.
I did:
Crankshaft rear seal
Torque tube bearings
TC housing bearings
Auto transmission overhaul
CV joints
shock absorbers (x4)
I'm well over 40 hours working on this but the results are fantastics. Thanks to Greg Brown from Precision Motorwerks for supplying quality parts and guiding me through this journey.
No more leaks, the reverse engages quickly and firmly, the shifts are way smoother than what I'd experienced from the car before the overhaul. The shocks replacement makes such a difference on handling. I'm discovering a new 928!
I'll post some pictures of the work soon...

Here are a few random pictures of the work...1000 miles since rebuilt and the car drives nicely. Finally the bottom is dry...no more spots on the blacktop!
The 4th picture is the broken guiding pin on the reverse piston.

and the proof is in the fact its running great after some miles,
congrats, it a great feeling knowing your hands made the difference.

me too
I've got an 89 with slipping reverse sitting my garage that I need to get going. When it cools off this fall, this thread will be very helpful.

I give free advice to the people who buy their transmission parts from me....Michel's understanding and skill set about this transmission were very impressive, but I think even he benefited from my support and advice.
He had to buy the parts anyway.....why not buy them from the guy that can give you free advice?

Well said Greg!
A transmission is a totally different beast compared to anything else on the car. I wouldn't begin any 928 transmission project without his support. He carries all the parts, even beyond those of the transmission, he has the knowledge and most of all the kindness to share and support.
Thanks again Greg!

I have no affiliation but if you do a google search a small company makes a how to dvd video on how to rebuild this transmission. I am sure its not the most detailed dvd that shows you how to make custom parts but if I were to rebuild this transmission for the first time I would watch it.
