Alternator Pulley Shaft
I had a situation where the alternatory pulley and fan were freewheeling on the shaft, and was wondering if the stock Valeo alternator for an 84 Euro should have a woodruf key on the shaft.
When I removed the pulley and fan from my alternator, the pulley and fan have provisions for a key, but the shaft on my alternator does not. My alternator is not original, although it is a Valeo (see this old thread for details on what is on my car: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=34007)
When I put it all back together and properly torque the nut, the pulley, fan and shaft tighten up nicely and spin in sync.
I'm just wondering if the stock setup for my year/model should be located with a key, or not....
Thanks for any insight.

Follow on question for those with an 84 Euro 16V - do you have a v-belt for the alternator, or a flat ribbed belt?
My car has the flat ribbed belt, but PET shows a v-belt for 84 M28.21/22 Euro, changing to the flat ribbed belt for the 85 M28.21/22 Euro.
Curious mind here....
