Default New to the forum. Hello all

Hello there. We have just recently picked up an 85 928s with a long list of thing to be fixed. Unfortunately there is what looks like water building up on the top of the Oil fill cap and Also has the famous timing belt indicator lit up on the dash. The car has a few rust issues here and there but we were planning on going through all the mechanicals first and worry about cosmetics later on. What I was wondering was if anyone knows of a reputable engine builder with experience in the 928 motor near me in Phoenix Arizona? We would probably consider shipping the engine out of state if the circumstances warranted such. Thanks for all and any info.

Welcome, Nathan.

The time to join a car forum is before you buy the car.

There are some very good 928 mechanics in Phoenix - I'm sure some of the AZ regulars here will give you some guidance.

Best of luck.

Oh, and

some moister white creamy looking stuff is just the condensation of water vapors from the normal blow bye which gets past the rings. It takes a good 15-20 minutes of driving at speed to fully warm up the engine and the oil enough to cook off the water. So short drives starting it to move around the garage etc. will build up that gunk.... My wife had a 5 mile commute to work and her 79 would get that stuff after a few weeks.
