How difficult is removing and reinstalling radiator end tanks?
I suspect I have a leaking oil cooler in my radiator. I dropped it off at a radiator shop on Friday and they're going to pressure test it on Monday. If the oil cooler turns out to be the source of the leak should I just let them open it up and see if they can repair the oil cooler or is removing the end tanks a DIY job?
Are there special tools used to uncrimp and crimp all the metal tabs?
Will I need any parts other than a new end tank o-ring seal?
TIA!

I found a local radiator repair guy who has done years of work on Behr radiators. Purchased my end tanks from Roger and had the local guy do it. It wasn't terribly expensive (and well worth the peace of mind).

A shop that does Behr radiators will have jigs, tools and experience to replace the tanks w/o breaking tabs. If they are going to evaluate/repair the oil cooler, let them handle the sidetanks. It's true people have DIY'd this. Requires some LARGE clamps and some finesse to not break tabs and get the tank back on with the proper gasket compression. I've had my passenger (hot side) sidetank done twice by a local shop over the years, and now at 24 years old the original radiator is still working fine. I had to supply the tank and gasket.

Be aware that if you have a leaking side cooler they are not available as a stand-alone part from Porsche.
I ended up buying an o-ring kit from Harbor Freight in order to get the proper replacement o-rings for the side cooler hose connections.

The tanks supplied by Roger now include the large rectangular seal plus two o-rings for the cooler. Hopefully they can fix the oil cooler for you.
Good luck,

Be aware that if you use this technique, you owe JHowell37 a big wet kiss...

There is a huge difference in how much you must bend the tabs with the jhowell method, and that makes the difference in whether they break or not...
