Default need male to male adapter for fuel return line

Part of the upgrades I've done required changing the return line to an MY 89 line.
But I just realized it has female ends on both ends. The input to the fuel cooler requires a male end. Does anyone know what size male/male adapter this would be?

No easy solution for you, but have to ask why you did all that?

Hopefully you are aware that the regulator you used is going to have higher pressure than your '86.5 originally had and you will need a different set of chips to make it work, right?

I've made up the convex adaptors that fit inside both the early and late fuel coolers to both -6 and -8 male threads....but not to that 14 x 1.5 metric female hose end. The "adaptor" you would need would be a male 16 x 1.5 convex to a 14 x 1.5 male made to fit that female hose end. I've never seen one....nor heard of one. I counld certainly take two different fittings and tig weld them together, but that would be the only way you'd ever get one, I'd guess.

I do make a complete hose that fits on that regulator and goes to the fuel cooler, however you will not be able to use that original '89 return hose that you bought.

Ask whichever one of the dealers that distribute my hoses to get you a "late regulator to early fuel cooler return line". If you bought the hose from the damper to the regulator directly from me, call Mary (phone number below) and get her her to ship you the correct return hose. More expensive than the original hose, but it bolts on without making a custom adaptor.

To get rid of the clamped return hose that runs from the pressure regulator to the "adaptor" that bolts on the back of the engine, which then has a hose that runs from there to the fuel cooler....

In other words....

Get rid of 2 "extra" attachment points where he can have a fuel leak, plus get rid of the rubber hose with clamps. I do this on a routine basis. I really dislike the way the factory did this.

Plus you then can use Porken's chip set and get more performance....

Greg, that's what I had done originally. Tom at 928 international said you recommended this hose. There must have been a mix-up in info. I am running the Porken chips. I purchased the front and rear hoses you make as well as this one at the same time. Well I guess it just means one more hose.

I made one of these for a coupler in the rear for the feed supply for the factory hardline that I swapped out. If you search for posts by me, you should be able to find the dimensions of the european fittings.

If you ask really nicely, and send me detailed pics of what you need, I may be able to single-point one out for you in your material of choice (I used stainless, but aluminum may be a viable option for you. I'd rather not make it from titanium, and definitely don't use regular steel or brass).

Thanks Thomas. I'll let you know. I think I may have found what I need. I'll know in a few days. I cut the old hose apart and checked the couplers on both ends and they are both 16x1.5 . So a male/male 16x1.5 should work.

That seems to be about right. I needed to make one because the fitting needed to be super deep, deeper than the standard adapters provided.

Yes, sorry, typo on my part. Both are 16 x 1.5.

The problem is that the threads need to be unusually long, as Thomas mentions in his post above, to fit inside the fuel cooler. Not to mention one end needs to be convex and the other is inverted with a curve for that German hose end.

Pretty cool for Thomas to offer to make you the correct adaptor fitting. I'd love to have this fitting, but really don't need 100 of them, which is the minimum I can find a CNC guy to make....and by the time I custom make them in my own machine shop....they would cost more than the price difference between the stock hose and the custom hose.

Why don't you return that stock '89 return hose to Tom and I'll drop him off the hose you need, on my way to work on Monday....and "refresh his memory" about the '85/'86/early '87 differences. at the fuel cooler.

Thanks Greg. I appreciate that. I'll call him Monday. That's probably the best route to go.

You are welcome.

I'll make you one, before I leave the shop, tonight.
