With a lot of help from the 928 Community 928sRus are now ready to offer a more cost effective alternative to the Porsche supplied cam gear 928 105 530 04 which lists at $421.98 and sells for circa $400 each.
We are taking orders for single or pairs of gears at $295 each. These are EXACT replicas of the PORSCHE supplied gears – tooth form, material, finish, dimensions and quality.
Porsche’s price WILL increase in January.
WE have been testing these gears since the summer with totally perfect results. One car that is both supercharged and uses a Gates Racing Timing Belt has now covered 17000 miles with zero wear. This car will continue to accrue miles at this rate so any wear issues will be picked up and reported for the good of the community way ahead of any new users.
There were concerns that the much more stronger Gates Racing Timing Belt could cause premature wear. This test with a higher than stock HP SC car and the Gates RB is an extreme test case.
The original gear (928 105 530 01) was made of a much softer material with a spray on wear coating and was prone to rapid wear in certain conditions. These new gears promise to give extended wear and last a lot longer – time will tell exactly how long.
The order was placed today for 100 gears – 50 sets. If these are taken we will be order another batch. Delivery is expected within 6 weeks or sooner. This is not a cheap investment and we will ask for a 40% deposit with order placement (fully refundable).
I do not expect the first batch to last very long so order soon. This offer will be made on other Worldwide forums as well.
Order by email Roger@928sRus.com or Laura@928sRus.com.
First Picture is a new set of gears in June 2012. The second picture is the gear removed from the car, for inspection, at 13542 miles.

During the total miles, 90% of them stock and ancient OEM from 1988...at least that's how it looked coming out. The last 4k, Kens...and they look fantastic as of last Sunday when I was in there again.

This is the larger market segment - if it goes well we will look at the earlier gears.
Already the square tooth gears are NLA.
