Probably a repackaged boutique oil. Brad Penn oil has been licensed out to Jegs, Summit etc. They apply their own brand to it.

Given how few Hemming's editors' cars actually run, I'm not sure I'd take their endorsement of motor oil too seriously.

LaChance keeps his running, sort of. Lentinello probably has no intention of ever completing his restorations, because then what could he be so humorless about. Another guy just dumped two BMW Bavarias for a moped, and I think it runs.

I saw a bit about this oil in the most recent Sports & Exotic, and the price doesn't seem good ($70 for six quarts of 15-50). I doubt you'll find the oil discounted anywhere, so it's probably cheaper to get the same quality from another Brad Penn seller.

Great oil choice for 928's.....................if I had a "street" 928 this is what I would use...mostly since the race oil I run doesn't have detergents a street oil needs

There are lots of companies coming out with "special" motor oils with higher zinc and phosphorous.

its about viscosity break down rates as well, especially at high temps. this is key for the survival of the 928 under racing conditions. get the oil up to 260F, and see if you can get 5 bar at 3000rpm. if not, its junk in my book.

Mobil 1 15-50 does have a fair amount of zinc.

Nonetheless, for my 25 year old engine with 125k at its next stop, I still add half a bottle of the Risoline 3x Concentrated zinc additive. I stock up on the Mobil 1 when on sale at Walmart. I can't imagine the higher priced boutiques offering anything above and beyond, or that which would be considered extraordinary.

when i use mobil 1, and put it in somene elses car and we are at the track, or even the street. when its hot, the oil pressure is so much lower. at the track, the oil pressure warning light went on. dont trust me, others that drove the car saw the samething. when we put in redline, that solved the problem. amsoil had the same performance , pressurewise as redline, but i think the zink and its higher resistance to heat is better. certainly worth the extra couple of bucks a quart.

So it's a good thing he doesn't race and he lives in MAINE.
