I have screen where the hoses meet the fan console. Keeps the bugs and butts out of the filter too.

Of course it restricts full-load airflow. Not as much as the mice do though.z

Put a couple of mothballs in the area. Mice hate mothballs, problem solved. Unless you don't like the smell

Dyno #s on that compared to stock? (With and without mice?)

Without studying the species involved, we will not know if the builder in question is on the endangered species list. Removal could have seriously disrupted the ecological balance within your immediate bio-space and may lead to a total collapse of your local, delicate and receding ecosystem. You must do your part and provide a replacement structure for this valuable animal to procreate and feel safe. Might I suggest
