Tire Recommendation -Conti Extreme Contact
I dont know what tire that the 928 aficionado's like, but us 911 guys like the Michelin Pilot Sport series. I have the PS2's on my 911. The 2nd probably for us is the PZero series of the Perilli tire company.
I have used the Pilot Cup tire from Michelin on one of my GT3s and that was strictly a street legal track tire. I got 4 K miles out of it.
But I have found a new one. By accident sorta. On my BMW X5 4.8is it had a set of four Michellin Diamaris on it. The rears were 315/30 on 20 inch rims. About $15 THOUSAND dollars a tire (really $550) and they dont even make them any more.
But I found a new Conti tire called the extreme Contact DWS for Dry/Wet/Snow.
The Diamaris were SUMMER only and I couldnt take my 4X4 to the mountain on the twenty inchers!! So I found this tire for less than HALF!!! AND it's more quiet and a better ride all over. THEN I found out they are available for the 911!
So get this, the PS2 Michelin is $500 for ONE rear! The conti is $245!!!
SO if you want a sporty all around (ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE) tire you CAN use in the snow, or you can buy the DW instead of the DWS if you dont get snow, the Continental Extreme Contact is a DAMN good tire for bee-Bopping around town. I dont know if I would track the tire but for stock sporty driving its a damn good tire for less then HALF the cost of the Pilot Sport 2 that I typically use on my 911's

I liked the PS II+ on my 928. Wear was less than stellar but they worked in the snow.

I really like the DWS. (I have 17" Boxster rims.) Very quiet on the freeway. Made the trip to SF2010 from the PacNW actually enjoyable.
I did hundreds of WOT runs in the rain (logging my S3 chips), many in near freezing temperatures. Even w/o a LSD, my 5-speed always had traction. Wet/dry cornering grip is as good as I'm comfortable trying.

I've got DSW's on my wife's volvo S70 T5 and the DW's on the 928. Like them so far on both. Reasonable price, good street grip. Haven't auto-X'ed them yet, though.

I'm running the Fuzion ZR1's, on my chrome manholes, made by Bridgestone. I've got around 12K on them they handle great in all weather, and so far wear like iron.

I had Conti DWS 19" on my M3....really a great tire....price is super cheap and they have a warranty of 50,000 miles! Compared to the PS2's I had before I thought the Conti's were quieter, rode better with only slightly less grip & feel... But the PS2's were $1700 vs $1200 and they only lasted 22k miles..If I owned a street 928 I would buy them for it!

The DWSs on my wife's R32 have been a great all around tire, smooth and quiet. I know guys that run the DW on the track as an option to R compounds with good results.

less than half.
And look how they fiit on the X5's and thsi is a 20 incher!!!
