Vertical Doors on a 928
Has anyone put vertical door hinges on their 928? These doors are so large I"m always having trouble getting in and out in parking garages. Just curious if anyone has used these products?

You mean straight up like a MB 300 SL Gull Wing? The doors are so big opening them the normal way, I can only imagine how much room side to side you would need for vertical doors. You'd need three parking spaces to get both of them up! As far as the kits currently on the market, I don't like them on a 928. I do not think they are any more useful than the way Porsche put the doors on from the factory. The car looks right, just the way it is, IMHO. Peace.

Don't give us that nonsense about the practical value of having some Lambo doors. That's a lie. It insults our intelligence. Just admit that your true desire is to be able to cruise through Falls Church and Arlington and have guys named Hector and Jose flash the proper gang signs of respect when they see you've pimped your ride.

This thread will turn out great.
Well, I suppose it won't, but might be fun to read anyway.

I like that Stosek 928 from Switzerland, but that's not because of its doors...
Having been in a rollover accident that ended with the car on its roof, I have no interest in doors that can't be opened when the car is upside down. The thought of being trapped in a fireball is just not very appealing to me.
As cool as I think DeLoreans are in many ways, I don't think I'd ever own one for that very reason.
BTW: The new Mercedes SLS has some kind of pyrotechnic device that breaks the door hinges after a few seconds, if the car is upside down. Not sure how it works.

Interesting question. It was an easy guess how the comments would come out, but I have to say I've wondered the same thing about lambo doors on a 928 - as gaudy as they are. My 928 is the first 2+2 car I've had - all other have been pure 2 seaters with shorter doors. And I gotta say its a bit of an acrobatic bitch getting in and out in the garage when I'm parked on the right and my wife's car is on the left. She likes parking on the left so she doesn't risk dinging my car with her door, but there is precious little room for me to squeeze into the seat (and I only weigh 150). I can only imagine it will get more difficult once I save up to have Paul Champagne to the sport seat conversion with bigger bolsters.
