Chuck sometimes we have the pleasure and effort of being the caretaker of something special. In this case, Kermit, has its own persona and life. Some of us are fortunate to maintain and be part of its history.

All who know you and know of Kermit will forever have the two of you linked no matter the current owner. Well done Chuck and regards to the new caretaker.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! That was MY CAR!

Chuck I SO wish I had been able to bring Kermit to Texas, but who knows if I will EVER have another job and certainly I could not have you wait forever just to see.

I am torn though... now I own the 2nd lowest know mileage car in the USA (well after Kermit ships out anyway), so that is nice, but still... I sure would have loved for Kermit to have taken up space in my garage!

Glad you were able to find a good home for the old boy! You have been a GREAT steward for that car! It could not have been in better hands! I hope the hands that get it are as capable as yours!

All the best my friend! Glad you have that amazing GTS to enjoy! Now you need to find a really nice 20k mile OB '78 so you will still have a first and last M.Y. 928 but both of which you can drive!

Kind of nice going back to Germany though really. I hope it is kept at well as you were able to.

Now the healing can begin....

You didn't really like OBs anyway right?
You didn't really even like the color right?

WHO AM I KIDDING!!!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Here's to Kermit's long ride home....

Chuck,

Well done, congrats on the sale to a "right type owner". Now we know that Kermit won't "CROAK"!!

Best wishes to you and to Kermit.

I can tell from the pictures it's a well restored and taken care of car. But what made it such a high value? Is the green color a factory rare color?

What you say plus less miles than you have on your tennis shoes. Plus first year of production.

Eric,

Kermit is the 2nd lowest known mileage 928 in the USA...that distinction will soon fall to my Blue82 when Kermit makes it back home... Number one is the Ingram '89 GT with 329 miles. Kermit has 1426ish and Blue82 3640... There could be some lower ones out there, but none that are known to any on this list, or confirmed anyway. Always unicorns out there...

It would be interesting to know what other cars buyer has in his collection. Was this first 928 or are there others and what they are?

Thanks guys for all the great comments! Today was spent packing all the extra wheels/tires/gas tank (the original was repaired this one is just in case...) and taking some pics of my last few days with Kermit.

James, sorry man - I wish I could have waited but once my mind was made up I needed to do it b/f I changed my mind again. BTW, there is another early 80's 928 with ~1500 miles out there........

As for what else is in the buyer's collection I can tell you there is another OB 928 but with many more miles but still in really nice condition. He also has a couple turbos; an early one and a 993 TT. Honestly, I'm not exactly sure what else. I know he has some early 911s and some American Iron. At the same time he is buying Kermit he is also buying a 1968 Mustang Shelby KR from somewhere in TX.

Here are some of the pictures I took today.
