not a whole lot new on the D, working on the interior and electrical now, then i will finish the suspension restorationa and start driving her. so also ive found another D im tring to get, its been abandoned up in a norcal forest since 2003, im trying to find the owners. in actuallity the body looks straighter than mine, and the frame isnt rusted. we will see. maybe the engine is dead in this one, install a v8 for sure. just a good wash and she will look nearly new!

It is amazing how many of these I see around lately. Must have seen a dozen in the past month alone. Definitely different cars. I don't see that many older Porsche's.

I have just been reading that the company that obtained the license for DMC is going to release in 2013 an electric DMC-12. Which reminded me of this post. Did the 928 engine ever get finished?

John Z's company when they went bust owed about 85 million he made around 9,000 cars which equates to around $ 9,000 per car sold NEGATIVE......best thing about the PVR 6 engine may have been that he did not pay for many of them since they owed Renault around $15 million. Irish government as I recall lost about 100 million on the factory they built. And Johny Carson dropped in a ton of money in a early Delorean tax shelter for the new "technology"which was never used.

There is a DMC factory about 10 miles from my house here in Houston.
I heard the owners bought the jigs and all the spares from Ireland and completely refurbish cars. Don't know if they do new builds with old stock pieces.
On any day you can see 5 or 10 Deloreans sitting in the parking lot.

Apparently, they are doing builds with NOS parts.

It's in the FAQ, under "contact."
They don't list any of the "new" ones for sale though.

I was the one that found that car in the forest...and posted it up on the DMC forums. Back then I had a Delorean... I dont think that car was ever rescued from the forest. but the pictures became somewhat legendary...
Ive been to Houston DMC and most of the other locations. They refurbish old Deloreans by using the VIN and many NOS parts. With that they can roll back the odo.
I sold my DMC to buy a 911 and then about 2 years later found myself in a 928. I still hang with the local DMC crowd and like cars. I do miss the one I had, it went to New Zealand eventually.

Wow Grandprix.
She was a beauty. I had an 82 almost 23 years ago. It was fun & I enjoyed working on it myself. This was way before the Houston boys deal and them buying that massive horde of NOS parts from Ohio? Maybe? I can't really remember.
I think it's great they can refurbish these old cars and make them new. Lots of new engine stage upgrades now as well from what I hear.
Is it true that the original dies/molds were dumped in the ocean off Ireland? I thought that's what ended up happening so no one can actually remake fenders and panels. Like that expensive front fender.
Sorry to stir up this old thread in your guys 928 forum. I've always had in the back of my head to buy another DeLorean and do a 911 Turbo engine swap and upgrade the suspension in one. You know, do it up.
Cheers!

I was looking at DMC's for a while then saw the engine/tranny issues held the car back no matter what! They were going to offer an electric DMC for sale, with range limited to around 40-50 miles. That was several years ago. Not sure what happened. Here's the link:

Now put a used Telsa motor in the back and Li batteries up front....an electric DMC might finally have a motor to match it's looks!
