The 300SL is right up there with the series 1 XKE for just pure great looks.

As far as the Delorean, any engine that goes in other than that POS PEUGEOT engine they had in it.
Volvo used the same engine in some of the Volvo's, as many Volvo's as I work on I have only seen 2 that ran in the last 15 years.

"Wait a minute. Doc, you're telling me you built a 928... out of a DeLorean?"

"Well I figured, if you're going to build anything out of a delorean, why not do it with some style?"

Clint
You are a wild man...DO IT....I think that would be too cool....the only bummer is the engine is fairly heavy....but could make 300hp fairly easy too...

Of course the euro engine out of helga would be SWEET...300hp right now...350 pretty easy

Yeah,it would be cool to be able to do it, but what would you call it?
A Porschorean?
A Delorsche?

ok heres some pic of the car even though most all Ds looks pretty much the same, its an early 81 i picked up through a friend for a very good price but it is a project car, originally form the east coast, the frame has had it and the exhuast is crumbling in rust which is why the engine was pulled. but shes my boyhood dream car

heres the 3.0 im building

ooh maybe

ive already done alot of work like rebuilding the fuels system as a precaution as it sat for 6 years

so yeah she needs alot or work, if the 3.0 dies maybe ill finish the 4.5 and stuff that in there, but as Brian said it will add alot of weight to the already *** heavy situation

If the frame is shot... why not drop the body onto a 928 frame... engine in front, transaxle in rear...?

actualy its more Renault than peugeot or volvo as renualt designed it, and renault has built some awesome engines, they have had a good race heritage too. a 600hp PRV powered prototype race car built by Venturi STILL holds the top speed record at LeMans since '88 @ 251mph. that engine is based on this one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRV_engine

volvos sufered from poor cam oiling due to the awkward angle the engine sat at, and a general neglect and little respect form conventional volvo mechanics didnt help them live long in the 760. remember renalt made this engine from '74 to '98 improving it along the way, yes the earlier ones sucked but the '85 and later even fire ones where rather solid.

seeing how a 928 is unibody, that might be really hard... but yeah a tube framed delorean with 928 drivetrain, sounds expensive but possible, i dont have enough room, time or cash to pull that off yet

that is unless brain will donate Helga to the cause....

Interesting.

My neighbor has one of these and he is constantly working on it. I almost purchased one back when they were new, decided to pass after the test drive. Although with a 928 engine it, it could be fun.

good Luck

I think that little orange car would have been a better candidate for the engine swap!
