85 euro timing impulse sender
the wiring was shot and i needed to replace impulse sender.
i have noticed the wiring and it is not making sense. there are 3 leads on the new sender side and only 2 wires from the wiring loom side . also i need to know which is the right color of wire conections once i get my weatherproof connector delivered .
old impulse sender black and yellow
wiring loom side white and red ( or brown)
thanks

trying here...
OK, I am not really familiar with these cars. However, I DO have the wiring diagram, so let me see if I can help you. According to the 85 wiring diagram I have there is a Brown wire, a white wire, and a shield [wire?] going to a "RPM and Reference Mark Transmitter" through a 3 pin connector. is that the "impulse sender"?
The Brown wire comes out of pin 19 on the EZF and goes to the connector where it is designated 19. It then goes into the sensor on the end without what looks like a resistor. The wire on the resistor side of the sensor comes out the sensor and into the connector designated 7. Pin 7 on the connector is a white wire that goes from the connector to...you guessed it terminal 7 of the EZF. There is a shield designated 20 that connects to pin 20 on the EZF and is designated 20 on the connector. This shield exists along the path to the connector and from the connector to the sensor.
I hope this heps you.

Informed guess.
Your welcome, glad I could be of assistance. I normally lurk around here and leave the tech stuff to the bigger fish. However I have recently been stuck under cars with two ends of a mess of wires so I thought I would chime in and TRY to help.
I can only speculate as to the shielding. I think I saw mentioned in a post I was reading that it is to isolate the signal from the (tach?) signal that goes to the trigger unit, which is also shielded, grounding to 14. However, my memory is not what it used to be and I am far from certain. Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge in these areas can enlighten us.
