Brake Pad Spring???

Brake Pad Spring???
Hi Sharks:
There is a long round spring that loops to form a cross shape holding the pads in place at the large hole in the caliper. As I recall, there is a kinda' flat thin piece of sheet metal at the bottom, and probably the top of the caliper hole. How do I release the clip(s)?
My brakes are squealing. I would like to release the clips, and slide in some anti squeal pads between the caliper piston and back of the brake pad.
Thanks in advance for any help.

From your description, the "Early" 928 pad retainer springs are similar to the S4 springs that I am familiar with.
Ergo ,you will need a pair of long handle pliars. The spring is released by pinching together the two horizontal sections in the center of the cross.Once done the spring swings out of the way.Check out http://members.rennlist.com/pirtle/ website and look under Service Procedures..then look for Brakes.
