Not a great start to the day

Well the damage is the speedo pick-up on the transmission got smashed and one of the bolts for the cv is bent enough that it won't come out of the cv-joint. I guess the good news is that the transmission case doesn't look smashed.
The car has an S2 LSD box in it, is there any difference in the speedo sensors from a late NA, S, Turbo or S2 or can I source any of them?
I was holding off laying up the car while we still have nice weather, I guess if I'm waiting for parts I'll attempt the VEMS installation. Not much is included for documentation so I was holding off until the there would be no weather to drive the car.

A quick shout out to Mark at Plyhammers. I emailed him this morning looking for a sender and he's sending it out right away. Great service from him.
Before I get aggressive trying to remove the remainder of the old sender, is it just the plastic portion that un-threads from the box? Or is it a plug?

epic cv thread from Grady Clay. good stuff.

clean mating surfaces are key....the joy of brake fluid and Q-tips.
muffler heat kinda gets the grease to propagate up through the boot cap and down to the threads. I may use a little non setting sealant between the soft metal boot flange and the shaft side of the cv next time.

That Grady thread is a solid read. I did thoroughly clean and chase the threads on the drive flange and have reassembled using torque but not loctite as I'll have to pull it apart for new bolts. I do have a question, the thread makes mention of 33 ft/lbs for the 8mm bolts and 60 ft/lbs for the 10mm. Elsewhere I've read 35 ft/lbs with no mention of fastener size. Are turbos using 8 or 10 mm fastners typically?

I believe the 930 uses a larger 108mm cv and the larger 10mm bolts....the design changed over the years.
you could try some schnorr washers if you can get the bolts at a length that protrudes a turn and a half. the supplied bolts in the GNK kit where 50ish but there was a bit more taper in the last turns at the tip. I reused the old ones.

Just a shout out and thanks to Plyhammers parts. I ordered a replacement for my speedo sender and it was delivered today (a week including customs clearance) in great shape for a very fair price.
Highly recommended used part source.
