Default 944 Width

I know this sounds odd, but I need to know the width of our 944's. Mine is elsewhere and is not available for me to measure. I am buying a body shell and need to haul it home. The trailer is 4'9" wide. I need to know if the body will fit in it (sides come up a couple of feet). Body shell is from a 1990 S2

Thanks - Bill

4'9"? Yeah, it definitely wouldn't fit laying flat. The 944s are around 5'8"-5'9". There's a wide variety of old British cars, kei cars, Fiats, and microcars that would fit, though! Haha

Make a mount thing to secure to the trailer, and load the shell in "sideways"

The factory says a 944 is 1735 mm wide. In inches that is about 64 inches.

I agree! Haha That was the first thing I envisioned.

And 1735 mm is just over 68" (68.3", to be exact), being in the aforementioned 5'8" to 5'9" range. An inch is 25.4 mm. Trust me, I'm unusually concerned with the dimensions of vehicles. Haha

Yet another reason why the 924s is superior to the 944.

(OK, not really a valid reason but I've said it.)
