looking to buy a s2, 951 or 968.
I have an a late 85 944 for many years now and looking for another porsche. I was considering a 928 but also considering an S2, 951, or 968. I think i'd prefer a 951 if i can find out the is in nice shape, preferably not modified or raced. I'm in vancouver, B.C and I rarely see 951s up for sale here same with s2s or 968s. I have seen one 968 up for sale here and it was auto.
I know a lot of people go over the border to washington to pick up cars but not sure how good of a deal i can get right now bc the canadian dollar is terrible. there is a 968 across the border listed for 18k right now which would be 25k canadian before taxes and duty….
i'm thinking i most likely want a 951. I like the looks of the 951 and s2 over the 968 and i'd like to play around with a turbo and possibly modify it in the future.
how much should i spend on a nice 951? I would like to find a lower miles car if possible…

Canadian 968s
Some of coolest 968s went to Canada. Just to mention a few of them:
* M030 #1, actually a 1992 and the only one built in 1992, white.
* Speed Yellow 968 coupes, #1 and #2, 1993s, twins with M030 and cloth scipt seats.
* 1 of 1 Provence Blue full leather interior, fully loaded white coupe
* #4,242 of 4,242 North Amercian 968s went to Canada. 1995, the true last 968. Fully loaded black coupe.
In total, 121 NA coupes and 55 cabs went to Canada and many of them are very cool, loaded, and unique examples. They all had a canadian package which included dual heated seats, headlight washers, and the kilo speedo.

thanks for the info Jeff. I'll check out the 968 site and see if any canadians are selling their cars.
this past summer there were 2 968s for sale, one was an auto and the other one had been sitting for years and needed a paint job, new clutch and lot of other things to be drivable.
There is currently a convertible 968 for sale in my city at a car dealer for 25k. Not looking for a convertible so i didn't check it out.

I have a 951 that I want to sell soon, it's very nice. It's white, 115k miles, lots of recent maintenance. PM if interested.
I've always wanted to visit Vancouver, maybe I could drive the car up!

I have a 951 and an S2. For every day driving, and even some weekend track use, I'd prefer the S2 (or 968). They are not as complicated to maintain as the turbo, and in my opinion, are a better street car due to more low end torque. The 968, being normally aspirated, is almost the same horsepower as a stock 951S, and more than a 951. I've formed my opinion over a few years of comparison driving. I've had my 951 for 20 years and the S2 for 16 years.

There was a guards S2 for sale on vancouver craigslist for most of the summer and fall. It was 10-12k CAD depending on the wheels, and pretty low miles as I recall. Lots of records and some really nice basic mods. Might be worth posting a WTB on CL to see if the seller maybe just stashed it for the winter.
Twice I had emails composed to ask about seeing it, but knew I had to sell a car first.
I'm not sure if you can post to the PCA-CWR page without being a member (perhaps you are one) That would be another place for a WTB
Good luck with the search
