Does anyone make a 215 tire?
Last time I bought tires was a few years ago. Now I find I need tires for my existing and new 944s. But I do not see the choices that were available a few years ago for size 215 /60 R15.
My question is: what is the tire of choice for the 944 base model?
And secondly, what is the performance tire of choice?

My 944 has Fuzion HRi 215 tires, they came on my car when I bought it, they were quite new but I don't know if they're still made. But just thought I'd say, they are very mediocre with regard to performance/grip. But the treadwear is great!

Not made anymore, replaced by the ZE950:

I haven't yet been able to find the ZE950 from any reputable local or online seller. Any leads?
To the OP, this old thread mentions some options:

I bought a set of these recently (1-2 years ago) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
Are they sticky like R comps? no way. Are they a perfectly good street tire whose charactersics are easy to identify? yup. And heck, they aren't even so bad to AX with either. Good in all weather too, they are likely as good or better than tires were back in the 1980's!
I haven't checked lately, buy Hoosier did offer a 215/60 within the past few years as well. just saying.
Unless you are willing to go to a 225/50-15 or 225/45-15, "performance" becomes a relative term.

Found this place that still sells the ZE912, and has the ZE950:

Its rough in 15" land, If you want a sticky tire you can run a direzza in a miata (195/50 or 205/50) size if your willing to deal with a smaller overall diameter. I did that on my 924S for a summer and had a lot of fun with it.
Otherwise your stuck with fairly lousy all seasons or have to switch over to 16's and run 205/55 or 225/50.

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for the info. Most likely I will stay with the OEM size. Looks good, imho, and keeps the speedo reading correctly.
Happy Thanksgiving for those that celebrate.
