A/C Clutch and Coil Alternatives - Ford?
I've got an A/C coil that melted down and while researching replacements I was appalled at the cost of the replacement from Porsche or the aftermarket. My local dealership wanted $120 for the coil and $350 for the whole clutch assembly.
I know Ford, Honda and some tractors all used the 10P15 compressor during the mid-80s and the replacement cost for their components is considerably cheaper than our Porsche parts.
I've been looking at something like this Autozone Ford Escort Clutch Assembly but I only found one thread of someone else researching this option and no comments about whether anyone had actually tried it. I know the ford coils use a different connector but you can grab one from Amazon for $10/shipped and the coils cost 1/4 of the Porsche cost.
So my question to the group is this: Has anyone attempted to use A/C clutch components from another vehicle on our 10P15C compressor? I'm probably going to head to the junkyard this weekend to see if I can't grab the components and test-fit everything to see if it will work.

Hey if the clutch fits...
Most of the time I see A/C mentioned it is about people ripping them out. I know a guy here locally in AZ who installed a non-OEM Keuhl compressor but it was a pretty beefy thing so he had to do a lot more than what you are probably looking at.

In the end, decided to buy a good used 944 coil instead of picking up a ford unit to try out. Unfortunately there aren't too many late 80s Ford escorts in the local junkyards so I opted for what I knew would work.
