late offset wheels on early offset car
ok so i've gathered that late offset wheels are +52.3mm and early offset wheels are +23mm
i have a 83 with factory 21mm rear spacer.
can i run a late offset wheel in the rear with factory spacer without rubbing? i'm lowered on 30mm TB, 5" ground clearance at rear rocker. running 225/50/16 tires. -1.7deg camber.
really last minute cause i got an event this weekend and one of my current rims just cracked.

So this 21 mm spacer...
Is it on the car when the correct 23 mm offset wheels are installed?
If so, the answer is, no.
If not, you can probably get by with the spacer and the late offset wheels. The obvious concern then becomes how much wheel stud sticks through the spacer (and ultimately the wheel). Ideally, you want about 1.5 times the bolt diameter, in thread engagement. Being that the wheel studs are M14, that is about 21 mm of thread for the wheel nuts to engage.
I would not accept anything less than 15 mm of engagement if it looks marginal.

yea i didn't know if the offset difference accounted for that spacer or not. i dunno why the 83-85 had a spacer...
i was reading some other threads and somebody mentioned that u could run the lateoffsets w/ just the factory spacer. so maybe not then....?

when i bought the car, it had 16x8 ET11 momo star rims in rear. with the spacer installed.
i bought an extra set of ET23 phone dials and just kept the spacer installed. so....it looks like i'm between rock and hard place

my early car has Cup's on it that are late offset
H&R Track adapters, courtesy of P/O, looks great, they are 1 1/4" or so in size
screws on the hub, and then wheel studs go into adapter
front and back

What you need is a set of bolt-on spacers on top of your 21mm spacer. I don't know Porsche they did that, but that 21mm spacer has a 928 part number and came stock on, at least '83 and '84 cars. (I don't know about '85 and '86, because I've never parted one of those. )

yea...h&r spacers are like $200....that's money i can't justify...there's another guy selling early rims...but they're kinda nice gold BBS's. i feel bad for abusing them as track wheels.
