924/944 door card resto DIY
The beige door cards in my 87 924S were faded and beginning to look their age, especially after installing my new two tone seat covers. So I set about a way to bring the faded, dirty and now out of place/out of color door cards up to snuff, and tie my interior together.
supplies used:
1 can dulpicolor (or similar) interior/vinyl spray paint, in a color of your choosing (I used sand)
1 can Rustoleom vinyl (or similar) spray paint (I used black)
1 bottle cleaner/degreaser
1 scrub brush
hex driver
10mm socket and ratchet
Philips-head screw driver
flat-head screw driver
2ft length of scrap card board
trim adhesive & tooth picks
Fist steps are dis assembly/removal of door cards.
NOTE: I did not take pics of this process
1st:Clean your door cards with a safe to use on furniture type cleaner/degeaser (I use Awesome, and it is )
2nd: Use trim adhesive applied with a tooth pic to fix any little spots of pealing vinyl
3rd: Using a piece of scrap card board as a shield (because masking tape wont stick to vinyl) and begin spraying/recoloring (In this pic you can see the difference in the half painted card)
DONT FORGETabout painting the speaker covers ( I opted for sand versus black here. No pic)
Part2 Door-pull/armrest
To tie the interior together I wanted to change my beige door-pull's to black
(use the same prep and paint procedure as above)
Lastly reassemble everything and enjoy

I like those seat covers. Where did you get them the fit perfect. Do you have any movement where they slide around when getting in and out of the car?
The doors look great also. I need to do this on the bottom half of my dash that was linen now it looks burnt from the sun. I got new seats from a rennlist memember parting out his car and now the rest of the interior looks worn out.

Can we trade? I need a bunch more info on your custom stuff, I'm thinking I want an interior very similar to yours, the doors I'll be doing the same way Thanks for the DIY. I have black carpet with grey-beige mats coming, and I'll be doing the sound dampening and carpeting tomorrow. Oh, I went and got that cup holder today! Doesn't work without anything on the body, like, y'know, carpet! :P

^^ good on ya! here in the south McDonalds offers 32oz sweet tea (no its not the same as sweetened iced tea) and Im addicted as hell to them, so a car w/o cup holders, and me have a problem.
As for the fire extinguisher & mount , aain found at Wal-mart in the auto section same isle as the cup holder, in the section for saftey/roadside supply (flares, marker triangles, first aid, etc..) i think i give $11 for it
yes the adhesive dries clear
The seat covers were found on ebay, check the "what did you do" thread, on page 7? 8? and i posted it yesterday, with a link

Nice job man. But maybe you should consider some later style interior door handles, and late style map pockets? It's a very simple install. Heres what it would look like.
(Yes I know the interior is messy. Well obvioulsy. ha)
