I am 6ft but with a big upper body (I have a 74.5" reach for example) I would guess with a similar setup you would be alright. My seats are very low in my car and I barely make the 1" rule with a helmet on. As far as what I had to cut is the interior panels that house the rear speaker holes (I cut them as a square) It was a PITA to say the least but when I am at home I will post up a picture of the cutout panels.

Under "normal" circumstances the windscreen, acts as the ROLLBAR,
This is one reason that a 944cab is not simply a chopped 944 coupe !
Had some fairly indepth discussions with Porsche techs a while ago about this and other differances on the s2 cab.
Of course if your head is TALLER than the windscreen then you have a possible problem.
again I say normal circumstances, I dont know about racing /track day issues.
Mind you, I've seen track day pics of guys in an s2cab, with a helmet and top down !

check the rules out on www.pca.org should be on there or somewhere w/ the pcna if its a porsche event. If you had the top off, you would need a rollcage, or if you were racing.

That being said if you roll over a cabriolet its going to crush down. I have pictures somewhere of one we parted at the shop that had rolled and somehow the guy walked away unhurt but the window frame was flat against the top of the door.

Michelle is correct.
Carl (928 Motorsports) had a very nice early 928 cabriolet conversion in his collection until recently. IIRC he sold it because it wasn't being used and enjoyed properly, he is too busy wrenching, racing (Pike's Peak this year!!!!!), and selling cool 928 high-performance products.

What's that line from the magazine ad... "Das Sport rollbars - AKA Thank God!!!" with the pic of the wide-eyed driver upside down.

Bringing an old thread back to life here. My question is to anyone with roll bars installed in their 944S2. Which model seats have you found that place you low enough to allow you to pass the broom stick helmet clearance test? And does anyone know for sure what the broom stick test actually specifies? e.g. Stick must clear helmet, or stick must clear with 1" to spare, or 2" to spare? I have heard conflicting accounts on this point. Thanks!
