Default starter not activating

Picked up the 914 from the shop in St. Louis yesterday (they've been working out all sort of problems), and drove the 2 hours home. The car ran like a top, but when I tried to restart it, there appears to be no juice going to the starter at all. One of the things they did at the shop was to clean and tighten connections to the starter, so perhaps that's a place to look. If it's the ignition switch on the column, anybody know to get to it? Or any other places to look? Thanks much.

The plot thickens. I went out to try it this morning before leaving for work, and it started. Anyone had this problem?

Depending on what year your 914 is, you could have a hot start issue, an interlock issue, or a bad switch. If the car will not engage the starter only when hot, it is usually cronic voltage drop and high resistance in the solenoid solved by installing a bosch WR1 hot start kit.

It's a '74. Where would one find a Bosch WR1 hot start kit?

Thanks!!

74 also has the seatbelt relay under the passenger seat. That's your next place to look if the hot start kit doesn't work. But it sounds like a hot start issue to me.

That is what I had meant by the " interlock issue" that I had mentioned, sorry for not being clear, but I too agree on a hot start issue which is chronic with 914s
