Back to my first love?
My 944 turbo was rear ended Thursday night and I expect it has a 99.infinity% chance of being totaled out.
I just put a bunch of go-fast parts on it including rebuilding the engine.
Now comes the hard decisions. Do I pick up another 944 turbo and buy back the wreck to re-use the new go-fast parts or do I pick up a 914. the first car I ever owned was a 914. I've always missed that car.
Decisions, decisions, what would you guys do?
BTW, my 944 turbo with the new parts put down 326rwhp on a dyno dynamics dyno right before it got smashed. Getting to that kind of a number in a 914 could be hard to do. I could reuse the same parts to get right back to the same number in another 944 turbo.

1st, I am sorry about your car and that you are alive.
Did you like your 944? You won't be able to match the HP in a 914. Depends what you are looking to do and what your expectations are for the 914. Are you looking for a track/AX car? Looking for a six or a four cylinder?
If you are a boost junkie then I don't think you will be happy with a 914.

I had a 914.. sold it.. had a 911, then a boxster and then felt compelled to have another 914. It was nice, but you can't really go back. Actually sold it and have an NA 944.
If you really liked the 914... but like the HP/Brakes/HVAC of the 944, consider an early Boxster instead.

I would like to pick up another 914 but logic prevailed and I will be getting another 951. The logic revolves around the recent trip I took with my two older boys to RSR IV. They are already talking about going to the next one. My youngest son will be old enough to go to the next one as well. Fitting myself and three boys into a 914 could present some logistical challenges so a 951 is the only logical choice.
