Hi guys,


Been lurking here for a couple years. Have a 2011 Turbo S and a 2015 Turbo S that are highly modded for track and airstrip racing. Grew up in the 80's and have always wanted a red/tan 930 and voila this week one shows up a half mile from my office.


I'm not an expert in these but appears like it is factory original except the radio but the ad says it comes with all stock parts. I'd keep this one stock. Doesn't look like a collector, particularly since it has 43,000 miles and then also because it has a strange Carfax, which indicates that the car sat at a dealer for the first 7 years basically not moving. Then the trail goes cold for 13 years when it pops back up. Curious if you guys can get a sense of what is up here or if anyone knows this car, which spent it's like in Pittsburg PA until making its way out here to SoCal.

Carfax info from the 90s can be sketchy, main thing is the miles on a 930 carfax. Good ppi and go in with eyes wide open, all these cars need rebuilds sooner or later, budget 25k.

Your in CA? Should be several good shops to Inspect.
Saw some of your videos, Ridiculously Fast Turbo S , I had a 2010 Turbo.
Check Paint, Pedals, Shifter, Carpet, Leather? Signs of Wear, Car Is 30 Years old After all?

Carfax is not really to Strange to Me, Just Get a Full PPI, Leak-down, Etc.

Thx guys. I need to do a bit more research on these cars first. And make sure the VIN numbers match everywhere. And understand what a respray may look like. This crap is risky even when you can see the car....and when it's listed at a very reputable place like the car I'm looking at. Don't know how people buy cars sight unseen.

Question...why can't a turbo with 43k miles qualify as a collector?

A sketchy carfax will follow a car to the grave. If you just are looking to buy a good car and don't care get a PPI by a different "reputable" shop and if if it passes muster make an offer.

Thx all. I got an allocation for a 991.2 GT3 and it is making it hard to buy a 930 when in the end it may end up costing just as much (purchase price plus inevitable engine build and other items on a 30 year old car).


Ownership of one of these is truly a labor of love and I have a lot of respect for you guys.
