Thanks guys. I am really enjoying doing it. I will give anything a go. At the end of the day, it is just a car. If I really messed it up it can always be fixed (and it would be hard to do a worse job than the previous guys).

Well I have been busy learning some more new skills. I was forced into it when I started stripping down the doors, which I thought were not too bad, and found a heap of rust. I have subsequently learnt how to cut out and treat rusted areas, and make weld in rust repair patches. I think it went pretty well. I am definitely not at the file finish level, but the finished product I think is not too bad and should only need a minimal amount of body filler to finish it off nicely for paint.

Here is the latest video of my journey.

Very nice work and your videos are awesome.

I'm currently in month 6 of a similar project: a HPDE restomod of a 1970 Datsun 240Z. The rust seemed to be never ending, but I consider my work on it to be therapy: after a week of my real job, I need the weekend of beating and welding on the Z to maintain my sanity.

Any rusted areas left inside of the doors or other areas can be coated with POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating that will Stop Rust Permanently.

Wow, that Z looks like a lot of work. If those doors are anything to go by, that would scare me.

Looks like you are getting there though.

It's a much simpler car than your 911. I am making a pure track car, so very little of the original car other than the unibody and the engine is being reused. Lots of fiberglass body panels will be used, probably including skins on the doors.

I don't want to hijack your thread because you are doing such an awesome job, but I might post an occasional picture so we can cheer each other on.
