how to shop for Fuchs?

Yes, but you'll likely have to massage things. As I posted above, I ran them on any of the non-flared cars I had back in the '80s/'90s. Extensively used on my track rat '73S (isn't that a laugh today) w/ 225/50 R compounds. The car wasn't extraordinarily low, and I ran 30mm torsion bars. I held several GGR class records on-and-off from '98-'02 in the car.

I have no problem with mismatched wheels on a hot rod. ....Say Fuchs up front and minilites in the back. I have even considered turning my 6's into 8-1/2's. got a few other things to do first.

Know what's funny with the track wheels I ran on the '73S pictured above? Those rears were from my friend's '73RS, and I still have them around. (Fronts are from the '80 Weissach, when I owned the car the first time around.)

I'm going back to objectives.... what do you want the car to be when done...?
A '69T would probably come with 14" wheels, with a 15"x5.5" package option. (others on this site probably know this in their sleep)... if you are building a Concours car, you need to research the option sheet...
If you are building a hot rod, that's another issue... on a hot-rod... all bets are off... put on what you like... 15"x6" was the "S' wheel but IMHO, a 205 on a 6" rim is about all you can jam under a narrow-body without "massaging".
IMHO, a "retro-fit" wheel is a legitimate hot rod mod, so if the shoe fits....
Have fun.

So for now im thinking period correct bling. 15x6 deeps. Date coded if possible for bragging rights come cars n coffee time.
Chances are if i find a nice set of 15x6 flats that are not date coded i will be just as happy as the cost saving will be nice and the car will look the same anyhow...
The car will be a fully restored 911 with a period correct motor/trans and RS style interior. Exterior will be stock other than paint color change.
Who makes a nice vintage 205? How about a sticky 205?
Anything else im forgetting?

Just for reference, I ventured into the crypt, and the tires on my avatar '70 911S were 205/55/16 BFG R1 (remember those) on "eastern" sourced repop wheels... they show 16/7"... they fit... body is totally stock.
My guess is actual width, offsets, and tire architecture will vary widely.

EDIT: Man that sucks. This was an amazing deal on old flat sixes. Seller likely had his phone blow up and/or had second thoughts.

IIRC the R wheels lacked a drop center and were hard to get tires on/off.
+1000% on the pendulum swing Ken. Who knows if and how far the market will relax, but I'm a modest guy and right now it's hard to enjoy my 911 enthusiasm. I have plenty of access to several 911s of every generation I can drive and track at will, but owning another one looks to be a ways off given my priorities.
Minilites are pretty cool on a hot rod early car.

I use 225/50 X 15 and 205/50 X 15 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup on one car, and 16" X 7" and 16" X 8" on a street car (steel flares on rear).

History of that car was PCA quasi-friend was moving to TX, so it had to go. Circa 1995. Friend who has the '72T that we made into an RS with more RS parts than most RSs actually have picked it up for $9K. He did a little work to it, main knock being it had a ~$1K paint job from the '80s.
He tired of it, so I picked it up for $11K in '98 after he did the whole MFI. Total track rat for me, all over the place as I'd bought that enclosed trailer. (Got married about that time, and the '92 C4 popped up for my wife via a three-way trade with a race car build.)
Wanted to get back into Club Racing in 2001, didn't want to hack up the S. We were at Laguna on a test day with both cars, and a PCA friend expressed interest. Sold it on the spot for $20K with a fresh top end. Harold owned it until maybe 2007, and he packed up and moved to NM. Saw it listed and disappear for $70K. Same condition.
Fully optioned car--sunroof, sport seats, factory AC. Was only missing LSD, and I popped a spare in. Good car, had a lot of fun with it in the PCA and POC time trials, plus test days. Definitely should not have sold it, but things hadn't gone crazy yet. And if I did still own it, it would easily be a $25-30K cosmetic with me doing damned near everything but spraying the paint.
