Default Would VW

I recall seeing on some threads that people have fit clear headlight lenses from 1958-66 VW to Porsche 911 (911 headlights with raised lenses, like the one in the pix below).

Considering the fact that the lenses are apparently stuck to the housing (at least mine are), does anyone know whether one could actually fit a pair of the VW lenses to this type of Porsche headlights?

I would appreciate receiving your comments.

I've heard something of this before. My lights are H4 and the lens' are definitely not stuck on.
They are held on with wire clips and are easily changed if damaged. Last time I priced a new lens down here was $34AU.

Dear Ed:
YES! Exactly like this. Are these VW lenses? Did you have H4 before installing these?
My lenses do not have clips; they seem to be stuck on teh base! Any comment?
Regards,
Zack

Ok Ed, please explain.
What's going on there in your garage?

No I didn't have H4's heck I didn't have fenders. These are H1's and I believe the lenses are 356 lenses Hella SB19 SB20 SB21 codes on the lenses. You might have sealed bulbs. A photo of yours might help.

Thanks Ed for the explanation (though it was not what I was hoping to hear!).

BTW, the picture in the first post (the enlarged black headlight) is mine.

The service book's drawing is like this:

Cheers,

Hopefully this will help

If you want an answer on the "stuck on the base" issue you'll have to get a better photo of the light preferably out of the light bucket.

Zack

Those are H5 lamps and you wont be able to get the lens off the housing unless you are a magician
