Default 1971 Porsche 911e engine info

I recently purchased a '71 911e, it was told to me as having the 2.4 engine, all my research, with the exception of a few cars for '71 show the 2.2. How can I go about finding out which engine I have, and is the much difference?

1971 engines were 2.2 liters displacement. Look at the engine to the right of your alternator belt and you will find the engine number stamped on a vertical surface facing to the right. It will be 7 digits that start with "611", followed by 4 digits which are consecutive serial numbers. Just past (forward) of that number, on a horizontal surface, you will find a second number which is the factory internal designation code. That number will be three digits, such as "911", followed by a forward slash and two more digits, such as "01." If you got a 2.2 911E engine that number will read 911/01. Depending on grime level you might have to use an aerosol cleaner to see the numbers clearly. Congrats on your find, I hope that you got a good one!

If your number starts with "621" that means:
6 = 6 cyl.
2 = 911E
1 = 1971
0398 = serial number
Congrats, you have the correct engine...
